How To Leave A Text Group On Iphone
How To Exit Group Text On iPhone 7 And iPhone 7 Plus
For those that own an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, you may want to know how to exit a group text on iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. Group text chats are a great way to talk to a group of friends at the same time without having to have several threads open and without having to relay messages between threads like a carrier pigeon. But the negative part about group texts is that your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus is going to keep getting messages overtime, and messages mean notifications. Sometimes these group messages having nothing to do with you. Sometimes the group text is simply no longer needed. In either case, you may want to know how to exit a group chat on the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.
The good news is that there are two different ways you can exit group texts or mute group chats for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The following is a guide on how to leave group iMessage chats and mute friends on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Exit a Group Text in Messages on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
For those iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users that never want to be part of the group message again, the best option would be to leave the group chat entirely. The way you can do this is by opening the group message on the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus and select "Details," located at the top-right of the screen. When you select this, it will show a list of all the chat's participants and location settings, and a summary of all images, videos, and audio clips attached to the thread. Right above the attachments section, you'll see a button labeled in red titled Leave this Conversation. Selecting it will have you removed from the group chat in Messages.
It's important to note that using this feature will not allow you to join to group chat again, and you won't be able to receive future messages from the group. Also, this methodonly works for group chats involving members using iMessage. A big group message involving both iMessage and SMS users will result in the Leave this Conversation button being grayed out, or not visible at all, depending on when the SMS users joined the group chat.
Mute a Group Chat in Messages with Do Not Disturb
Some iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users don't want to leave the group conversation because they may need to get messages from the group in the future. In this case, if your Apple ID or mobile number will be part of the conversation in the future, you can always mute a group chat with "Do Not Disturb."
The way you can set "Do Not Disturb" is by going to (Messages > open the message you want to mute > Details). Then scroll down through the Details screen until you see Do Not Disturb. Select the button to turn it on and you'll no longer receive sounds, vibrations, or Notification Center alerts for that particular group chat messages.
The best thing about the "Do Not Disturb" feature on Messages is that using this method works for all types of group chats, including iMessage-only, mixed iMessage and SMS, and exclusively SMS. Also, you can still go back and review the messages you missed, in case some important information is eventually distributed.
